In this workshop we will playfully explore choreographic tools based on imagination and fantasy. How can an image or a sensation influence our dancing? Which technical tools can help us to transform ourselves into the projected image? Florencia Demestri will tackle the notion of physical states, dear to her own creation process. With the participants, she’ll explore some states used in the choreographic work of the company, and then look for other, more personal, so that each of us can use his/her imagination to develop an original and creative way of dancing.
Florencia Demestri is a dancer and choreographer from Argentina, based in Brussels. She has always been fascinated by the potential strangeness of a situation or a behavior, meaning the moment when something familiar transforms itself beyond recognition.
She worked a.o. for Les Ballets C de la B (Lisi Estaràs), Michèle Anne De Mey, David Zambrano, Roberto Olivan, and the collectives Finger Six and Groupe Entorse. She also develops her own work: Spring Quartet with Peter Jasko and Simon Thierrée, Do you love me? with Piergiorgio Milano and The Last Days Project with Claudio Stellato.
Since 2012, she collaborates with choreographer Samuel Lefeuvre and together they created several shows (monolog, Olga, l’évènement and Le Terrier) performed in traditional venues as well as in more unconventional spaces, in which the choreographic research is rooted into a theatricality that aims to blur the line between fiction and reality.
